As it seeks to boost its presence in China’s B2B sector, Tencent-owned mega-app WeChat is now offering a new service to business users that allows them to designate unique QR codes to all products, allowing for hyper-granular tracking of customer data. Chinese dairy giant Mengniu, liquor brand Jiangxiaobai and herbal tea maker Wanglaoji have already tested the service and reported improved sales as a result.

Using “one object one code”, WeChat said in a statement, brands can connect every product and consumer, send product info, measure official following accounts, provide anti-fake services, issue red packets and other targeted marketing, and enable better data management.
